Honda Relaunches CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP in India

Honda has relaunched its flagship superbike, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, in the Indian market. The superbike now costs Rs 28.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Interestingly, it is about Rs 2.23 lakh more expensive than the earlier version. However, this update also brings a revised design, MotoGP-inspired aerodynamics, and premium hardware.

Design Inspired by MotoGP

Honda Fireblade SP

The new Fireblade SP carries forward Honda’s racing DNA. At first glance, the front fascia looks aggressive with twin-pod LED headlamps and a central air intake. In addition, Honda has added aerodynamic winglets on the fairing. These winglets improve stability and increase downforce at high speeds, especially on race tracks.

Powerful Engine and Exhaust Setup

The bike continues with a 999cc, inline-four engine. This motor produces 217.5hp at 14,500rpm and 113 Nm at 12,500rpm. Moreover, the six-speed gearbox comes with a bi-directional quickshifter and ride-by-wire throttle. To make things even better, the Fireblade SP also gets an Akrapovic titanium exhaust as standard, adding both performance and style.

Hardware and Electronics

Honda has equipped the Fireblade SP with top-notch hardware. Moreover, the bike comes with electronically adjustable Ohlins EC 3.0 USD forks at the front and an Ohlins rear monoshock. The motorcycle also uses twin 330mm Brembo Stylema discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.

Furthermore, a six-axis IMU controls advanced electronic aids. These include traction control, wheelie control, launch assist, cornering ABS, engine braking management, and multiple riding modes. All these settings can be accessed through a five-inch full-colour TFT screen.

Competition in India

In India, the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP competes with some strong rivals. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is priced at around Rs 19.49 lakh. The BMW S 1000 RR comes at Rs 20.75 lakh to Rs 25.25 lakh, depending on the variant. Meanwhile, Ducati’s Panigale V4 starts from Rs 30 lakh and goes even higher.
